Set up a connection to Cvent

Cvent is a leading meetings, events, and hospitality technology platform that manages conferences, festivals, trade shows, and meetings of professional organizations.

Set up a connection

After you start the connection, configure it in the Create connection panel and complete all of the required * authentication settings: 

Setting Instructions
Name your connection * Enter a clear and distinguishable name.
Throughout integrator.io imports and exports, you will have the option to choose this new connection. A unique identifier will prove helpful later when selecting it from a list of the connections in your account.
Region / Environment *

Select your Cvent account region.

North America: if your hostname is https://api-platform.cvent.com.
Europe: if your hostname is https://api-platform-eur.cvent.com.
Sandbox: if your hostname is https://api-platform-sandbox.cvent.com.
OAuth 2.0
client *

Select the OAuth 2.0 client that stores the client ID and client secret provided to you by Cvent.

To add an OAuth 2.0 client and configure your credentials, click the plus (+) button. Click the edit ( ) button to modify a selected OAuth 2.0 client.

Scopes *

Scopes are OAuth 2.0 permissions that Cvent defines to limit access to your account.

Tip: This connector documentation describes only the settings shown for the Simple view. For the corresponding HTTP settings, see OAuth 2.0 auth universal connector documentation.

  1. Sign in to your Cvent portal (EU, NA, or Sandbox). For more information on how to get developer portal access, see Inviting your developer.

  2. Navigate to Applications.

  3. From Current workspace, select the required workspace.

  4. Click Create application.

  5. Select Application type.

  6. Enter Application name.

  7. Select the required Scopes and click Save.

  8. Copy Client ID.

  9. Copy Client secret.

Note: This article is concerned only with the settings needed for creating OAuth 2.0 client for Cvent. For complete field documentation, see Create a new iClient.

At this point, you’re presented with a series of options for providing OAuth 2.0 HTTP authentication.

Name (required): Enter the required iClient name.

Region / Environment (required): Select your Cvent account region.

Client ID (required): Enter client ID (retrieved from the above section).

Client secret (required): Enter client secret (retrieved from the above section).

  1. Click Scope.
  2. To access all of the scopes in the API, click the » button.
        – or –
    Check the scopes you want to add and click the > button.
  3. Click Save.
