Set up a connection to Microsoft SharePoint

Microsoft SharePoint is a cloud-based platform that makes organizations share and collaborate on documents, tasks, and other information.

Set up a connection

After you start the connection, configure it in the Create connection panel and complete all of the required * authentication settings:

Setting

Instructions

Name your connection *

Enter a clear and distinguishable name.

Throughout integrator.io imports and exports, you will have the option to choose this new connection. A unique identifier will prove helpful later when selecting it from a list of the connections in your account.

API type *

Choose your Microsoft SharePoint API type:

  • Graph: Recommended API for comprehensive SharePoint access

  • REST: Legacy API for existing SharePoint resources

Subdomain *

(This setting is visible only when you select REST as your API type)

Enter your Microsoft SharePoint account subdomain.

How to retrieve the subdomain

Scopes *

(This setting is visible only when you select Graph as your API type)

Scopes are OAuth 2.0 permissions that Microsoft SharePoint defines to limit access to your account.

How to configure scopes

Tip

This connector documentation describes only the settings shown for the Simple view. For the corresponding HTTP settings, see OAuth 2.0 auth universal connector documentation.

Note

If you have trouble authenticating, verify that you are using an admin account. This is a known issue with SharePoint.

How to retrieve the subdomain

  1. Sign in to your Microsoft Business Central account.

  2. Navigate to Apps > SharePoint.

  3. Copy the subdomain. For example, if your SharePoint URL is

    https://temp-portal.sharepoint.com, then temp-portalis the subdomain.

How to configure scopes

  1. ClickScope.

  2. To access all of the scopes in the API, click the » button.

    – or –

Check the scopes you want to add and click the > button.

  3. Click Save.

Save and authorize

  1. Click Save & authorize to commit your changes and proceed to sign in with Microsoft SharePoint.

  2. Read the app information and click Accept.

  • I believe this document is incomplete. I ran into an OAuth 2.0 error message when attempting to authenticate for the connection. That was a hard stop so now I need to troubleshoot what to do when you get the error message. Additional help for that would be appreciated. Is it necessary to set up an OAuth 2.0 connection separately from the SharePoint connection?

  • Hi Rodney Veach,

Please open a support ticket to resolve the error. Once I know the error and the cause, I'll update the article to include the steps needed to avoid the error you received.

  • I believe these are inverted correct?

    • REST: Recommended API for comprehensive SharePoint access

    • Graph: Legacy API for existing SharePoint resources

I don't think Graph is considered a legacy api
