Support for NetSuite’s Multi-Subsidiary Customer feature
If you use NetSuite OneWorld, prior to the 2018.1 release, NetSuite allowed users to assign a customer record to only one subsidiary. With the 2018.1 release, NetSuite is introducing the Multi-Subsidiary Customer feature that permits you to share a customer or sub-customer record with multiple subsidiaries.
With this release, we are providing a solution to support the Multi-Subsidiary Customer feature with the Salesforce-NetSuite connector. This solution is applicable to the following flows:
Opportunity Syncs:
- Salesforce Opportunity to NetSuite Opportunity
- Salesforce Opportunity to NetSuite Project
- Salesforce Opportunity to NetSuite Sales Order
- Salesforce Order to NetSuite Sales Order
Quote Sync:
- Salesforce Quote as NetSuite Quote
Prior to this solution, regardless of the selected subsidiaries for a customer in Salesforce, Sales Order, Opportunity, or Quote were always created for the primary subsidiary in NetSuite.
Now, when a customer belongs to multiple subsidiaries, this solution will enable you to create:
- Salesforce opportunity as NetSuite Sales Order, Project, and Sales Order.
- Salesforce Quote as NetSuite Quote
for the same subsidiary in NetSuite as selected on the respective Salesforce objects.
Required configuration to support this solution
This configuration requires you to create a custom field of the picklist type in Salesforce the Opportunity and Quote record. Add picklist values in this new field based on subsidiaries available for a customer in your NetSuite account. For example:

Once this field is created, use the following steps to configure Field Mappings of the supported flows to use this solution:
- Click on the Field Mappings icon against the flow for which you want this solution to be configured. The Mappings page is displayed.

2. Add a new mapping. From the Export Field (Salesforce) column, select the custom field and From the Import Field (NetSuite) column, select Subsidiary (Internal ID).

3. From the new mapping, click the Settings icon. The Settings page is displayed.

4. From Field Mapping Type, select Lookup, from Options select Static: Value to Value and map the Salesforce pickup list values with subsidiaries from NetSuite.

5. From the Mappings page, click Save & Close.
With this configuration, when you create an opportunity or quote by selecting a value in the picklist, the connector will use the mapped picklist value and subsidiary from NetSuite to determine which subsidiary needs to be used when the information is synced to NetSuite.
Auto-association of subsidiaries with NetSuite Customers in the Salesforce Opportunity to NetSuite Sales Order flow
In Salesforce, an opportunity can be created with a subsidiary which does not already exists on the NetSuite customer. In this case, the Salesforce Opportunity to NetSuite Sales Order flow has been enhanced to automatically add the missing subsidiary to the customer in NetSuite.
To support this feature, a new checkbox, Add Transaction Subsidiary to Customer in NetSuite, has been added in the General > OneWorld section.

Enable this checkbox if you want the connector to add the missing secondary subsidiary to the customer record in NetSuite. This will reduce manual steps required by you to add missing subsidiary for the customer in NetSuite prior to synching the opportunity. To implement this, the connector assumes the missing subsidiary is present in the static lookup as demonstrated in aforementioned step 4.
Note: This feature is only available for the Salesforce Opportunity to NetSuite Sales Order flow in this release and will be extended to the other related flows in subsequent releases.

Release notes v2.3, November 2016
What’s new
In this release of the Salesforce Connector we have introduced enhancements which provide more control on the Connector and address many more integration scenarios. We have also refreshed our user interface to a modern, clean look with enhanced features.
- UI upgrade - Earlier this year, Celigo released integrator.io - a next-generation iPaaS for the modern business, and now, we are excited to bring integrator.io to you! With the latest update you can configure and manage the Salesforce - NetSuite Connector right from your integrator.io account. You should have received a series of emails from Celigo outlining the process of transitioning to the new user interface.
- Sync additional Accounts associated with Opportunity / Quote - When the Connector syncs a Salesforce Opportunity as NetSuite Sales Order or a Quote as Estimate, till now it would only sync the primary Salesforce Account associated with the Opportunity / Quote as NetSuite Customer. But there are scenarios (e.g. Channel Sales) where multiple accounts associated with the Opportunity / Quote should be created as NetSuite Customer. We have introduced a setting where you can identify multiple account types associated with the Opportunity / Quote which should be created as NetSuite Customers when the Opportunity / Quote is synced to NetSuite. All the Account types selected in the settings page will be first created as NetSuite Customers before syncing the Opportunity or Quote.
- Sync Contacts for multiple Accounts - Till now the Connector will only sync Contacts associated with the primary Salesforce Account to NetSuite. Now the Connector will sync Contacts associated with all Accounts which are synced to NetSuite along with the Opportunity or Quote. The Connector can sync a total of 45 Contacts from Salesforce to NetSuite in one data flow. If the number of Contacts are more than 45, the Connector will show a notification to the end user if they want to proceed. If the user decides to proceed, the Connector will sync first 45 Contacts to NetSuite in that data flow and will sync the remaining Contacts next time when the sync is triggered. Once the Opportunity or Quote is synced, the sync window can be closed. The Contacts will continue syncing in the background.
- Support for Parent Account sync in Quote sync - The Connector now supports syncing Parent Accounts to NetSuite when a Salesforce Quote is synced as a NetSuite Estimate. Earlier this functionality was only available in Opportunity sync.
- Attachment synced from Salesforce to NetSuite will have unique id - Salesforce allows multiple attachments with the same name but NetSuite only allows one attachment with the same name. This results in attachments getting overridden in NetSuite if in Salesforce attachments are maintained with the same name;. The Connector will now append a unique identifier to the attachment when syncing from Salesforce to NetSuite to ensure that different attachments have unique names in NetSuite.
- Address split and combine logic for Contacts - NetSuite maintains Address in multiple lines while Salesforce maintains them in a single text area. The Connector now supports splitting Salesforce Contact address to multiple lines in NetSuite and combining them in reverse. The user can also choose across how many lines should the address get split in NetSuite. Earlier this logic was available only for Accounts and Customers.
- Choose folder in Salesforce for saving attachments - Now you can define the folder in Salesforce where the Connector will save attachments synced from NetSuite.
Steps for updating your Salesforce Connector:
- To upgrade your Salesforce Connector to the latest version, please request a Salesforce Connector bundle update in your NetSuite account from the Celigo team. Also make sure you update the following Connector packages in your Salesforce account to the latest version by clicking the links below:
Release notes v2.2, August 2016
What’s new
Almost an year and a half ago we launched a completely redesigned version of our very popular Salesforce - NetSuite Connector. The Connector was built from the ground up to be easy to set up, be completely configurable and solve most business needs out of the box. Since then many of our customers have used the Connector to seamlessly integrate Salesforce and NetSuite and streamlined their business processes. We have observed and understood the myriad ways customers use the Connector to solve their business needs. Today we are launching a new update to the Connector which brings in additional data flows and customisation options out of the box to make the Connector even more powerful and turnkey.
The main highlights of this release are:
- Account updates sync independent of Opportunity - The Connector provides an option to sync a Salesforce Account associated with an Opportunity as NetSuite Customer when that Opportunity is synced as a NetSuite Sales Order. Once a Salesforce Account is synced to a NetSuite Customer further updates in the Account will sync automatically to NetSuite without syncing the Opportunity again.
- NetSuite Exchange rates to Salesforce - Many customers use NetSuite as the master database for exchange rates. A new data flow allows you to sync the latest exchange rate information from NetSuite to Salesforce. This is a batch flow the its running frequency can be easily adjusted. The Connector also displays the Corporate currency in the Salesforce account in Connector settings which acts as the base currency in the Salesforce account.
- Salesforce Product to NetSuite Item - The Connector now supports syncing Salesforce Products as NetSuite Items. The following NetSuite Item types are supported out of the box:
- Inventory Item
- Serialized Inventory Item
- Lot Numbered Inventory Item
- Non - inventory Item
- Service Item
The Connector configuration page provides an option to easily match a Salesforce Product to a NetSuite Item type. A picklist can be created on the Salesforce Product record and based on the value of the picklist, that Product will get synced as the appropriate Item type in NetSuite.
-
Salesforce Opportunity to NetSuite Opportunity - This new data flow allows you to sync a Salesforce Opportunity as a NetSuite Opportunity. The Connector introduces a new button (optional) on the Salesforce Opportunity - ‘Create NetSuite Opportunity’ which when clicked syncs the Salesforce Opportunity as a NetSuite Opportunity. If the Account associated with this Opportunity is not present in NetSuite, then the Connector will create this Account as a Customer in NetSuite. The line items associated with the Salesforce Opportunity are synced as well to the NetSuite Opportunity.
-
Salesforce Order to NetSuite Order - This new data flow allows you to sync a Salesforce Order as a NetSuite Order. The Connector introduces a new button (optional) on the Salesforce Order - ‘Create NetSuite Order’ which when clicked syncs the Salesforce Order along with the line items as NetSuite Order.
-
Salesforce Opportunity to NetSuite Project - This new data flow allows you to sync a Salesforce Opportunity as a NetSuite Project. The Connector introduces a new button (optional) on the Salesforce Opportunity - ‘Create NetSuite Project’ which when clicked syncs the Salesforce Opportunity as a NetSuite Project. If the Account associated with this Opportunity is not present in NetSuite, then the Connector will create this Account as a Customer in NetSuite.
-
Advanced mapping for Country and State information between Salesforce and NetSuite - NetSuite maintains the list of Countries and States as per their ISO codes however Salesforce does not insist of the same restrictions as NetSuite. So a country or state name can be spelled differently in Salesforce which would result in mismatch when they sync to NetSuite. In this release we have introduced an option to maintain the list of countries and states as it is present in Salesforce within the NetSuite account. When a country or state information comes from Salesforce as part of the data flow, a dynamic lookup on this list identifies the correct country or state in NetSuite and makes sure the correct records are mapped between the two systems.
-
More robust Contact sync - Previously when there were a large number of Contacts in a single account the Connector would exceed the computational limits of Salesforce and would not sync these accounts to NetSuite. We have optimized our syncing logic and now the Connector can sync up to 50 Contacts associated with a single Salesforce Account to NetSuite.
Release notes v2.1.4, March 2016
What’s new
In this new update for the Salesforce Connector, we have added a new settings, enhanced few existing data flows in the Connector and improved error logging. The highlights are:
- Decouple Account from Opportunity - Different customers use Salesforce differently and at Celigo we support diversity as much as possible. By default a Salesforce Opportunity is tied to an Account. But if you were using a custom record type instead of Account, the Opportunity would not sync to NetSuite, We have now introduced a new setting for the Connector where you can choose to which record is the Opportunity tied to. By default this value is set to Salesforce Account but it provides you flexibility to select as custom record as per your business rules.

- Link to support site in the error messages - Celigo has launched a brand new and improved customer support center and now you can navigate directly to support site from the error messages.

- Tested for NetSuite 2016.1 - NetSuite has started rolling out their latest version 2016.1 to all their customers. We have tested the Connector on this latest version to make sure everything is running properly.

What’s new
Celigo is happy to announce that a new version of the Salesforce Connector for NetSuite (v 2.1.2) is now available. New features in this release are:
Features:
- Support for NetSuite Item groups - We have added support for syncing Item groups from NetSuite as Products in Salesforce. The prices of individual items in an Item group get rolled up and sync over to Salesforce as the price of the product. These products can be added as line items in Salesforce Opportunity or Quote and can be synced over to NetSuite. The reverse flow is supported as well.
- Filtering of Contacts based on Contact roles in Opportunity - We have listened to your feedback and you can now choose which Contacts to sync over to NetSuite based on Contact roles sublist in Opportunity out of the box. Earlier this filtering was done based on Contact roles sublist in Account.
- More control on Account and Contact sync - Now you have finer control on Account and Contact sync from the Connector configuration page. You can choose to trigger the sync between Salesforce and NetSuite whenever a new record is created or updated or both.
