Shopify Connection in IA install / setup fails and returns to same step
The wizard for the IA to set up the shopify connection for me was buggy, confusing, and can left me blocked for days, in a loop that goes nowhere. This is the documentation for this step
If you had this problem, this is how i was able to complete this successfully, I don’t have exact steps, because it is confusing, but my tips are below after doing it 3 times and once with the Support team.
The problem is between steps 6 and 7, and there is a step in between where it asks you for a new or existing connection.
Make sure you are logged into the Shopify app and correct store. Whenever you are in a Shopify page or screen, look at the top right and verify that you are still in the correct store.
Create a new OAuth 2.0 connection first. Give it a clear name that you can remember distinguish from other connections like Shopify Staging A, this never works the first time, so continue.
You will be taken back to the same Starting page as if nothing happened. Retry the same process to setup a shopify connection, but this time select Use existing connection, the one you created before Shopify Staging A. This usually does not work either.
Now to try the shopify connection process again from the same integration app start page, but this time select the existing connection that looks bogus, it has a generic name like shopifystore or Shopify Connection or something that does not bear relation to the connections you set up previously. For some reason it then pulled in the credentials from the real Staging A, B, or C connections, and shows a new screen in step 7 of the Celigo document link above. It is asking you for permission to access data from shopify, press agree or continue and it should be done.
The other connections i created are not used by the app after this step, it only uses the shopify connection
I am using Chrome on a Mac, latest versions in nov 2023.

Saikumar Rachamalla thanks for responding, have other people encountered this problem? I was surprised not to find more info on it, it was easy to reproduce.
Thank you so much Jolyon Blazey for this post!
We faced this same issue over a year ago. Luckily Stein was still there and able to help, otherwise we would have been lost. Just setup new connection and was surprised this 1) is still happening and 2) the documentation has not been update.
IT Manduka we have updated the document per the feedback from Jolyon Blazey to make it clearer and remove any confusion. Kindly go through the comments on this article.
As mentioned in the 'Important Notes' at the top, it is stated that the user should choose an existing connection when installing the integration app for the first time.
We understand that including the 'Set up new connection' information in this article has created confusion. Therefore, we have removed this information from this article and have created another article to address it."
Also, we have added FAQs relevant to this topic.
