Paycor connection: anyone actually succeed at this?

Rumor has it that Paycor provides a direct connection via a tidy public/private key connection.

They also have some fairly extensive API documentation and application registration process that requires multiple steps and a fancy chain of tokens and such for OAuth 2.0.

Has anyone created a Paycor connection that actually worked? I've been hitting nothing but authorization errors and "Something went wrong, try again later" walls, and now have my sales contact at Paycor in the loop too.

  • Yes, I've seen Set up a connection to Paycor – Celigo Help Center: it sounds so easy!

The hard part is getting the private/public keys. As part of the process Paycor provides a form that asks for IP addresses to whitelist, then says they can only accept single IP addresses, not subnets or ranges.

Given the /24 size of the subnet at Whitelist integrator.io IPs – Celigo Help Center I can't imagine the tediousness of setting that up! Maybe Paycor already whitelists Celigo on the back-end?

Paycor support has been no help, providing links to API documentation I've already followed and even accidentally revealing another customer's name in one of the email replies.

  • Quick update for anyone else who later finds this: Paycor's documentation is a bit awkward, but essentially the process described in creating a new application and activating it has to be performed by the main Paycor administrator (not just a developer portal admin).

Be logged in as a Paycor main admin into the developer portal at Paycor first; then log into Celigo and follow the documentation for OAuth Paycor authentication. During that process Celigo will perform a live authentication step into Paycor and connect everything.

Ref: Set up an OAuth 2.0 HTTP connection to Paycor – Celigo Help Center

After this process, I was able to start performing HTTP exports from Paycor and build custom records in NetSuite. To summarize: logging in as a Paycor developer portal admin didn't work. I had to log in to the developer portal as the Paycor main administrator.

  • Thanks for the solo Q&A, Troy Thompson. It's great to see that you're unblocked after much diligence. You've caught the attention – and earned the gratitude – of the Celigo product teams at all levels. We'll be updating the article shortly, and I trust that your post will continue to help others in the same situation.
