Discount Items

NetSuite uses Discount Item(S).  Plural.  Why can you only use 1 discount item on ALL products from the Salesforce opportunity sync?!

We'd like to be able to specify a discount item (custom object is fine) on the Opportunity Product line item and have those discount items appear under the item in NetSuite.  Ideally, we'd also be able to use the Subtotal item as well, so that discounts can be grouped together with similar items (just like it is done in NetSuite)...

  • If you are talking about the native Discount Item in NetSuite, you can only apply one to each Sales Order Header, thus there is that limitation in Salesforce as well.

To work around this, you can use the native discount functionality at the Salesforce Opportunity Product level, assigning a discount and not syncing, and then syncing the discounted rate to NetSuite as the custom price level rate. The NetSuite Sales Order would not have "awareness" of the discount other than it's not the same as list/msrp price.

This option is supported by minimal configuration in Salesforce (Discount object, entries are lookups onto the Opportunity Product level.)
