Does the Salesforce NetSuite Integration App support Salesforce CPQ use cases? (Contracts in Salesforce, how synced into NetSuite without Contract Renewals)

Would anybody know how ASC606 compliant Contracts can be synced into NetSuite via the Salesforce NetSuite IA?

It is important to treat individual Upsell and Downsell Orders as business events in the same contract to achieve ASC606 compliance in NetSuite.

If we sync them simply in as Sales Orders, wouldn't we be facing a disconnect to the Contract object, hence non-compliance?
In case of multi-year contracts with multiple billing events, how are fractional invoice amounts avoided?

  • Hi Gabriel Burgener,

We're looking into this for you. Here's what we have thus far: The revenue recognition rules are defined within NetSuite at the item level as revenue elements and attached as lines on the revenue arrangements and will be created based on the sales order that is created, so it is important to set up the items correctly in NetSuite to facilitate the process when the sales order comes in.

  • Hi Gabriel Burgener,

If you're using revenue recognition in NetSuite, compliance should not be an issue. That's where you create the revenue recognition arrangements and add those to the items to tell NetSuite how to record the GL impact of sales transactions across future periods.

For your question on fractional invoicing, could you provide more information on your use case?

  • Gabriel Burgener,

You can also just make a custom integrator.io flow to send contracts from Salesforce to NetSuite, then let the NetSuite revenue recognition engine take care of the rest. Good luck!

  • Dear Courtney,

Thank you for the feedback! This is much appreciated.

My question rather relates to Salesforce Order relations (tied together via Contract object and to be potentially merged in an ASC606 scenario) as well as Orders with negative total amount, though.

Does the IA maintain contract relations and how does it bring in Salesforce Orders with negative amounts? (NetSuite Sales Orders cannot be negative, can they? You would need to create an RMA instead, either on the back of an associated Sales Order or independently, the Contract reference all the more important for Revenue Arrangement merging later on.)

How are these use cases supported?

  • Hi Gabriel Burgener,

Thanks for sharing these additional use cases! Our Salesforce-NetSuite (IO) team is looking into this and we will get back to you.
