The “NetSuite Kit Inventory to Shopify Inventory Add/Update” data flow exports Kit inventory (quantity) from NetSuite to Shopify. This use case is only applicable to customers who have modeled their Kit Items in NetSuite as simple items in Shopify. Whenever a Kit inventory item is created or updated in NetSuite, the integration app exports the details of that item as a product on Shopify. The integration app also provides options to set up the integration app before running the pre-built integration data flow.
Understanding the kit inventory
Kit inventory lets you create an item for sale that contains a collection of other items that can or cannot be sold individually. Whenever you sell a kit, inventory items are deducted from the inventory.
A kit is a unit composed of items from your inventory. A kit is sold as one unit but has several member components. The price of a kit is not dependent on its components' prices and can be assigned several price levels.
Note: Kit item inventory is not tracked by the kit, it is tracked by individual component items associated with the kit inventory. This means the Kit item record in NetSuite cannot display an available quantity for these items.
To create a Kit Item record in NetSuite, go to Lists > Accounting > Items > New and click Kit/Package.
Example of the kit inventory item
NetSuite Kit items are a special type of items that are composed of 1 or more component items. The Parent kit item does not have any inventory on them. The component item, each can be sold individually and has inventory associated with them.
A Dining Set (Kit) has 4 plates, 4 bowls, and 2 mugs. The inventory of the Kit item is determined by calculating inventory on each of the individual items. In the above example, if there are a total of 10 plates, 12 bowls, and 8 mugs, then the total saleable kit quantity is only 2.
Kit Inventory calculation based on Location
Kit Calculation is done at each location and then computed across locations. Component inventory is summed across inventory locations and then Kit Calculation is done on the totals. The resulting calculation for kit inventory is exported to Shopify.
Working with the Kit Inventory data flow
Set up the kit item in NetSuite and then open the integration app. The integration app Flows > Inventory section displays the data flow groups/data flow. Click Run button to run the data flow from this section.
The dashboard shows the status of the data flow. Once the flow is successful (takes a few minutes to complete), validate that the NetSuite record is exported to Shopify.
Inventory Settings
- NetSuite Saved Search for syncing inventory for kit Items and item groups: Select the appropriate saved search. Refresh to fetch the latest values for the saved search. The following screen displays the saved search and its associated criteria in NetSuite:
- Calculate Kit Inventory per Location: If enabled, the integration app will first calculate the sellable inventory of kit per location using the quantity of each member item, and then will send the sum of all the sellable quantities across all the locations. If disabled, the integration app will first calculate the total inventory for each member items across all the locations, and then will calculate inventory for a kit.
- NetSuite locations to pick inventory from: Let you choose the inventory location(s) in NetSuite from which the inventory quantities should be read and exported to Shopify.
