Set up a connection to Blackboard Learn

Blackboard Learn is an LMS that provides educators with the autonomy to deliver inclusive, consistent educational experiences learners desire, all while reliably operating alongside your current tools and integrations.

Set up a connection

After you start the connection, configure it in the Create connection panel and complete all of the required * authentication settings: 

Setting Instructions
Name your connection * Enter a clear and distinguishable name.
Throughout integrator.io imports and exports, you will have the option to choose this new connection. A unique identifier will prove helpful later when selecting it from a list of the connections in your account.
API version 

Select your Blackboard Learn account API version (either v1, v2, or v3).

OAuth 2.0
client *

Select the OAuth 2.0 client that stores the client ID and client secret provided to you by Blackboard Learn.

To add an OAuth 2.0 client and configure your credentials, click the plus (+) button. Click the edit ( ) button to modify a selected OAuth 2.0 client. For more information, see Create an OAuth 2.0 iClient resource

Scopes *

Scopes are OAuth 2.0 permissions that Blackboard Learn defines to limit access to your account.

Learn host *

Enter your Blackboard Learn account learn host.

For example, if your Blackboard Learn account URL is https://bd-partner-a-original-new.blackboard.com/, then bd-partner-a-original-new.blackboard.com is the learn host.

Tip: This connector documentation describes only the settings shown for the Simple view. For the corresponding HTTP settings, see OAuth 2.0 auth universal connector documentation.

  1. Sign in to your Blackboard Learn developer account. 
  2. Navigate to My applications and click + (Register your application).

  3. Click Manual registration.
  4. Enter the Application name, Description, Domain, and select Group.
  5. Click Register application. To know how to register your site, see Registering and Managing a REST or LTI Application.

  6. Copy the Application key (client ID) and the Secret (client secret).

Note: Make sure you copy the secret; you can see it only once.

  1. Click Scope.
  2. To access all of the scopes in the API, click the » button.
        – or –
    Check the scopes you want to add and click the > button.
  3. Click Save.
