Set up a connection to BlackLine

BlackLine is a leading provider of cloud-based solutions for financial close management, automation, and accounting reconciliation.

Set up a connection

After you start the connection, configure it in the Create connection panel and complete all of the required * authentication settings:

Name your connection * 

Enter a clear and distinguishable name.

Throughout integrator.io imports and exports, you will have the option to choose this new connection. A unique identifier will prove helpful later when selecting it from a list of the connections in your account.

OAuth 2.0 client *  

Select the OAuth 2.0 client that stores the client ID and client secret provided by BlackLine.

To add an OAuth 2.0 client and configure your credentials, click the plus (+) button. Click the edit ( pencil.svg ) button to modify a selected OAuth 2.0 client. For more information, see Create an OAuth 2.0 iClient resource.

Client ID: Enter the client ID provided by the BlackLine support team.

Client secret: Enter the client secret provided by the BlackLine support team.

Username: Enter your BlackLine app username (selected API user).

Password: Enter your BlackLine API key.

 How to retrieve the password 

Environment * 

Select your BlackLine account environment type:

  • EU: if your account URL is https://eu1.blackline.com

  • Sandbox EU: if your account URL is https://sandboxeu1.blackline.com

  • Sandbox US: if your account URL is https://sandboxus1.blackline.com

  • US: if your account URL is https://www.blackline.com

How to retrieve the password

  1. Sign in to your BlackLine account.

  2. Navigate to User information > API key.

  3. Click Generate.

  4. Copy the API key (Password).
