Sync orders and items for eBay EU VAT as per eBay latest changes

eBay is introducing significant changes to how VAT is collected on imports into the EU, to comply with the latest changes to VAT regulations from 1 July 2021 in the European Union (EU) region, affecting supplies within the EU by non-EU sellers and cross border supplies by EU sellers. eBay is obliged to collect VAT on goods sold through eBay to EU customers in specific scenarios. For more information, see eBay EU VAT and IOSS.

The Integration App is compatible with the eBay changes, and you can configure the order and item integration flows as described below.

Order sync

For EU orders, eBay is now sharing the following VAT registration IDs through the eBayReference field. For different scenarios, eBay shares the appropriate reference number on the order.

The eBayReference field holds the VAT registration ID which is a reference for the shipment carrier, to ensure that the taxes are not remitted twice. Sellers must provide eBay’s IOSS to carriers. If eBay’s IOSS is not provided correctly, then buyers may have to pay VAT again on delivery.

Notes
  • Sellers should only use this number in connection with eBay transactions. Where eBay becomes aware of seller misuse of the eBay IOSS number, eBay will take necessary actions against the seller.
  • To generate address labels, it is recommended not to use the ShippingAddress.Street2 field as it contains the eBay reference number.

Important: Check the Exclude Tax if Marketplace Tax Collection applies box in the Settings > General section when eBay is remitting taxes.

By configuring the mapping below, you will be able to sync the eBay reference VAT ID to NetSuite.

  1. Sign in to your integrator.io account
  2. Click the eBay - NetSuite Integration App tile.
  3. Go to the Flows > Order section.
  4. Next to the eBay Order to NetSuite Order Add flow, click Mappings.
  5. On the Mappings page, click eBay Order Import Adaptor.
  6. Configure the following mapping:

    Export field (eBay(XML))

    Import field (NetSuite)

    {{#compare eBayCollectAndRemitTax  "===" "true"}} {{TransactionArray.Transaction[*].eBayCollectAndRemitTaxes.eBayReference}} {{/compare}}

    Items: eBay Tax Reference

Note: You must create a NetSuite custom field.
  7.  Click Save & close.

Item sync

eBay has mandated sharing the VAT percentage for all tax-inclusive items. All sellers are required to provide VAT rates in all their product listings. All VAT-registered sellers are supposed to provide the gross price and the VAT rate used to calculate the gross price, to ensure displaying the correct VAT-inclusive price to European buyers and preventing eBay from collecting VAT on an already VAT-inclusive price.

To sync the VAT percentage from NetSuite to eBay, you must configure the following mapping to any NetSuite custom field name or enter a hard-coded value:

  1. Go to the Flows > Product section.
  2. Next to the NetSuite Item to eBay Item Add/Update flow, click Mappings.
  3. On the Mappings page, click eBay Item Import Adaptor.
  4. Configure the following mapping:

    Export field (NetSuite)

    Import field (eBay(XML))

    VATPERCENT

    VATDetails.VATPercent

Note: The value mentioned here is just for reference. You can enter a hard-coded value or provide NetSuite saved search label.
  5. Click Save & close.
