The GraphQL billing flow syncs payment captures from NetSuite to Shopify using the Shopify Admin GraphQL API. The NetSuite billing to Shopify billing (add) flow replaces the deprecated REST-based flow (transactions.json endpoint) and provides improved error visibility on the integration dashboard.
Use this article to enable the GraphQL billing flow and, if applicable, migrate from the deprecated REST-based flow. By the end, the GraphQL billing flow will be active, and processing payment captures from NetSuite to Shopify.
This flow applies to merchants who sync payment captures from NetSuite to Shopify as part of their order-to-cash process.
What the GraphQL billing flow includes
- Displays Shopify GraphQL errors as actionable flow errors on the integration dashboard, making issues easier to identify and resolve.
- Reuses your existing billing configuration; the Capture order payments in setting continues to control how payments are recorded in Shopify. No additional billing settings are required.
How the flow works
When a NetSuite billing event occurs, the flow:
- Retrieves the billing record from NetSuite.
- Sends the payment capture to Shopify using the Shopify Admin GraphQL API.
- Records the result in Shopify as a transaction on the associated order.
Enable the GraphQL billing flow
To enable the new GraphQL billing flow:
- Go to Flows > Billing.
- If [Deprecated] NetSuite billing to Shopify billing (add) is on, turn it off.
- Locate the NetSuite billing to Shopify billing (add) flow and turn it on.
- Go to Settings > Billing and confirm that the Capture order payments in setting is configured correctly for your payment-capture workflow.
Important: Do not turn on both the deprecated REST flow and the new GraphQL flow at the same time. Running both flows simultaneously can result in duplicate payment processing in Shopify.
Billing settings reference
The GraphQL billing flow uses your existing billing configuration. No additional settings are introduced.
The Capture order payments in setting under Settings > Billing determines how and where payment captures from NetSuite are recorded in Shopify. Configure this setting before running the flow. Accepted values depend on your Shopify payment configuration. This setting functions the same way as in the deprecated REST-based flow, and no changes are required when migrating.
Migrate from the deprecated REST billing flow
The deprecated [Deprecated] NetSuite billing to Shopify billing (add) flow uses the REST transactions.json endpoint and remains available in your account but will not receive further updates. Celigo recommends switching to the GraphQL flow to ensure compatibility with Shopify's current platform requirements.
Your existing billing configuration, including the Capture order payments in setting, carries over automatically. No additional setup is required.
To migrate, follow the steps in Enable the GraphQL billing flow above.
