Set up a connection to Customer.io

Customer.io is a customer communication platform facilitating personalized messaging and automation, empowering businesses to engage with their audience at scale.

Set up a connection

After you start the connection, configure it in the Create connection panel and complete all of the required * authentication settings:

Name your connection * 

Enter a clear and distinguishable name.

Throughout integrator.io imports and exports, you will have the option to choose this new connection. A unique identifier will prove helpful later when selecting it from a list of the connections in your account.

API type * 

Choose your Customer.io account API type:

  • Data pipelines: Get page, screen, group, alias, batch, track, and identify data details

  • Journeys track: Get account region, customer, event, form, and segment details

  • Journeys app: Get message, info, export, import, newsletter, and more details

API type: Data pipelines 

API key * 

Enter your Customer.io API key.

Multiple layers of protection, including AES 256 encryption, are in place to keep your API key safe. When editing this connection, you must re-enter this value each time; it is stored only when the connection is saved and never displayed as text.

How to retrieve the data pipelines API key 

API type: Journeys track 

API key * 

Enter your Customer.io API key.

How to retrieve the journeys track API key 

Site ID * 

Enter your Customer.io site ID.

API type: Journeys app 

Environment * 

Select your Customer.io account environment region (either EU or US).

API key * 

Enter your Customer.io API key.

How to retrieve the data pipelines API key

  1. Sign in to your Customer.io account. 

  2. From the left panel, navigate to Data pipelines > Sources.

  3. Select a source. For more information, see Data pipelines.

  4. Navigate to Settings > API keys.

  5. Click Create API key.

  6. Copy the API key.

How to retrieve the journeys track site ID and API key

  1. Sign in to your Customer.io account. 

  2. Navigate to Settings > Account settings > API credentials.

  3. Click Track API keys.

  4. Click Create track API key.

  5. Enter a Name and select a Workspace.

  6. Click Create track API key.

  7. Copy the API key.

  8. Copy the Site ID.

How to retrieve the journeys app API key

  1. Sign in to your Customer.io account. 

  2. Navigate to Settings > Account settings > API credentials.

  3. Click Track API keys.

  4. Click Create track API key.

  5. Enter a Name and select a Workspace.

  6. Click Create app API key.

  7. Enter a Name and select a Workspace.

  8. Click Create app API key.

  9. Copy the API key.
