Set up a connection to Contentful

Contentful is a cloud-based content management system (CMS) designed to help organizations create, manage, and deliver digital content across various platforms and channels.

Set up a connection

After you start the connection, configure it in the Create connection panel and complete all of the required * authentication settings:

Name your connection * 

Enter a clear and distinguishable name.

Throughout integrator.io imports and exports, you will have the option to choose this new connection. A unique identifier will prove helpful later when selecting it from a list of the connections in your account.

API type * 

Choose your Contentful API type:

  • Content delivery: Get displayed published content details

  • Content image:  Get transformed image details

  • Content management: Get the created or updated content details

  • Content preview: Get unpublished content details

  • Content SCIM: Get the teams and organization membership details

  • Content user management: Get users and organization membership details

Region * 

Select your Contentful account region (either EU or Non-EU).

Space ID * (for content delivery API type)

Enter your Contentful space ID.

CDA access token * (for content delivery API type)

Enter your Contentful CDA access token.

Multiple layers of protection, including AES 256 encryption, are in place to keep your CDA token safe. When editing this connection, you must re-enter this value each time; it is stored only when the connection is saved and never displayed as text.

How to retrieve the CDA access token

CPA access token * (for content preview and SCIM API types)

Enter your Contentful CPA access token.

Enter your Contentful CMA access token.

How to retrieve the space ID, CDA access token, and CPA access token

  1. Sign in to your Contentful account.

  2. Navigate to Settings > API keys.

  3. Click + Add API key.

  4. Enter a Name.

  5. Click Add API key.

  6. Copy the Space ID.

  7. Copy the CDA access token.

  8. Copy the CPA access token.

How to retrieve the CMA access token

  1. Sign in to your Contentful account.

  2. Navigate to Settings > CMA tokens.

  3. Click + Create personal access token.

  4. Enter a Token name and select Expiration date.

  5. Click Generate.

  6. Copy the Personal access token.

How to retrieve the organization ID

  1. Sign in to your Contentful account.

  2. Click the Contentful icon in the top left corner.

  3. Click Organization.

  4. Click + Create organization.

  5. Enter a Name.

  6. Click Create organization.

  7. Copy the Organization ID.
