Set up a connection to Tableau

Tableau is a powerful data visualization and business intelligence platform that enables users to turn complex data into easily understandable visual insights. Known for its user-friendly interface and interactive dashboards, Tableau is widely used for data analysis and reporting across diverse industries.

Set up a connection

This video demonstrates creating a Tableau connection.

After you start the connection, configure it in the Create connection panel and complete all of the required * authentication settings: 

Setting Instructions
Name your connection * Enter a clear and distinguishable name.
Throughout integrator.io imports and exports, you will have the option to choose this new connection. A unique identifier will prove helpful later when selecting it from a list of the connections in your account.
My server *

Enter your Tableau server name. For example, if your account URL is
https://prod-useast-b.online.tableau.com/#/site/testing778946829, then prod-useast-b is the my server.

API version *

Enter your Tableau API version.

Content URL * Enter your Tableau content URL. For example, if your account URL ishttps://prod-useast-b.online.tableau.com/#/site/testing778946829, thentesting778946829 is the content URL.
Username *

Enter your Tableau username. 
Fetch data How to retrieve the username

Password *

Enter your Tableau password.

Multiple layers of protection, including AES 256 encryption, are in place to keep your password safe. When editing this connection, you must re-enter this value each time; it is stored only when the connection is saved and never displayed as text.

  1. Sign in to your Tableau account. 
  2. Navigate to Avatar > My account settings.

  3. Copy the Username.
