Create custom fields and installation packages for NetSuite templates

You may need to customize your NetSuite fields and create new installation packages based on your integration template requirements. This article covers creating custom fields and bundles and installing your bundles in NetSuite.

Create custom fields

  1. Sign in to your NetSuite account.
  2. From the Customization menu, select List, Records and Fields and select your field category.
    1. Example: List, Records and Fields → Transaction Body Fields → New.
  1. Provide a Label.
  2. Check Show in list and Include in global search.
  3. In the Applies To tab, check the record types to which you want to add your field.

Create an custom bundle

  1. Sign in to your NetSuite account.
  2. From the Customization menu, select Suite Bundler → Create bundle.
  1. On the Bundle Basics page, enter the Name and Version. Click Next.
  2. In the Bundle properties, click Product and select NetSuite and NetSuite OneWorld. Then, click Next.
    1. You may have to use your Shift button to select multiple products.
  3. In the Select Objects page, choose your required object types (Custom Fields, Saved Searches, etc.) and click Next.
  4. Click Show On Existing Custom Forms in the Set Preferences tab and save the bundle.
    1. Do not enable the Lock on install checkbox.
  1. In the newly created bundle, set the Availability to Public and save your changes.
  2. Take note of the bundle ID since you’ll need it to install your bundle.

Install your bundle

  1. Sign in to your NetSuite account.
  2. From the Customization menu, select Suite Bundler → Search & Install bundles → List → New.
  1. In the Keywords field, search for your bundle ID and select it from the list.
  1. In the Components tab, verify your custom fields and saved searches and click Install.

Note: The installation process may take time, depending on your settings. You may get unwanted fields when you add a Saved Search. Make sure you review all the fields your Saved Search adds to your bundle.
