Create custom fields and installation packages for Salesforce templates

You may need to customize your Salesforce fields and create new installation packages based on your integration template requirements. This article covers creating custom fields and bundles and installing your bundles in Salesforce.

Create custom objects

  1. On the top bar of your home page, click Setup.
  1. In the search bar on the left side of the screen, search for Objects → Create → Object → New Custom Object.
  2. Provide the Label, Plural Label and Object Name in Custom Object Information.
  3. Provide the Record Name in Enter Record Name Label and Format and click Save.
  4. Use the Custom Fields & Relationships section to create custom fields in the custom object.

Create custom fields

  1. On the top bar of your home page, click Setup.
  1. In the search bar on the left side of the screen, search for the object in which you want to create your custom field.
    1. Example: search for the Account object and click Fields in the Account drop-down.

    Search for Objects → Create → Object and find your custom object in the list.
  2. In Custom Fields & Relationships, click New.
  1. Choose the format for your custom field (text, checkbox, etc.) and click Next.
  2. Provide the Field Label, Length, Field Name, and any remaining fields.
  3. Make your field Visible and click Next.
  4. Click Save and check your object page to ensure your custom field is available.

Create custom tabs

  1. On the top bar of your home page, click Setup.
  1. In the search bar on the left side of the screen, search for Tabs → Create → click Tabs, and select New.
  2. Choose your custom field in the Object drop-down, find your Tab style, click Next, and Save.

Create a custom package

  1. On the top bar of your home page, click Setup.
  1. In the search bar on the left side of the screen, search for Packages → Create → click Packages and select New.
  2. Provide the Package Name, any other required fields, and click Save.
    1. Your Package Name should follow the following convention: Celigo[AT]_SalesforceTo[ApplicationName]
    2. Example: Celigo[AT]_SalesforceToNetSuite
  3. In the Components tab, click Add.
  4. Select your custom fields, objects, Apex triggers, or other components.
    1. Example: if you select Custom field, Salesforce displays all the custom fields with different objects.
    2. Adding custom objects or other components may also add unwanted fields. Make sure you review all the fields you add to your package.
  5. Choose your desired fields and click Add to Package.

Install your package

  1. Sign in to Salesforce and click the Installation URL.
  2. Select Install for admins.
  3. Click View Components, which contains all the custom fields created in the package.
  4. Click Install and Done.
