This article shows you how to create an application before subscribing to existing APIs. Before starting, you should be familiar with plans, applications, and subscriptions. After you create an application, you can proceed with subscribing to an API.
This article is for API consumers who want to use APIs created by a company. If you're an API publisher or product manager who wants to create and publish APIs using integrator.io, see API publishers.
To create an application you'll need to navigate to the Developer portal. If you're unsure how to access the Developer portal, contact the API publisher.
Before you can use an API, you must create an application:
-
Navigate to Dashboard → Create Application.
–– OR ––
-
Navigate to Applications → Create an app.
-
Name (required): The name of your application.
-
Description (optional): A unique description of your application.
-
Domain (optional): The domain your application is associated with. For example, https://<my-application>.com.
-
Fill out the application Type. The API publisher determines these options.
-
Simple: A hands-free application. Using this type, you can define the client_id on your own.
-
Browser: Angular, React, etc.
-
Web: Java, .Net, etc.
-
Native: iOS, Android, etc.
-
Backend-to-Backend.
-
-
Fill in the client ID if needed.
-
Tip
If you’re unsure if the client ID is required, leave it blank and navigate to the next step. The system will remind you that a client ID is needed to subscribe to an API plan.
-
-
Optional: Search for and add your desired API(s) and choose an API tier.
-
Note
You can choose multiple APIs at this stage. If you’re unsure which APIs to use, leave this blank and subscribe later.
-
-
Confirm your application details and create your application.
To delete an application, click the application you want to delete in the Dashboard or the Applications list. On the right-hand side of the General tab, click Remove and confirm that you want to delete the application.
When a new application is created, only the application’s creator (PRIMARY OWNER) can see and manage the application. Most of the time, an application is shared through a developer application and will retrieve information such as API keys and API analytics. To manage members:
-
Log in to the Developer portal.
-
Click Applications in the top menu.
-
In the Applications screen, select your application and go to the Members page.
-
Search for the user.
-
Assign a role.
-
Click Add.
-
To remove them, click the trashcan next to the user’s name.
