A. Set up a Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central connection
Start establishing a connection to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in either of the following ways:
- From the Resources menu, select Connections. Then, click + Create connection at the top right.
– or – - While working in a new or existing integration, you can add an application to a flow simply by clicking Add source or Add destination/lookup.
In the resulting Application list, select Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
The Create connection panel opens with the required and advanced settings.
B. Edit Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central application details
At this point, you’re presented with a series of options for providing Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central authentication.
Name (required): Provide a clear and distinguishable name. Throughout integrator.io imports and exports, you will have the option to choose this new connection, and a unique identifier will prove helpful later when selecting among a list of connections that you’ve created.
Application (required, non-editable): A reminder of the app you’re editing.
Web services (required): Select your Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central web service (API, OData, or S2S). For more information on web services, see Business Central web services.
Environment name (required): Enter your Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central environment.
- Sign in to the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central admin center.
- Click Environment available on the left side.
- Copy the Environment name available on the list.
Tenant ID (required): Enter your Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central tenant ID (this setting is available only when you select the S2S web service).
iClient (required): Select the iClient pair that stores the client ID and client secret provided to you by Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. To add an iClient and configure your credentials, click the plus (+) button. Click the edit ( ) button to modify a selected iClient. Be sure to give the iClient a recognizable name for use in any other connections. (This setting is available only when you select the S2S web service)
- Sign in to your Microsoft Azure account.
- Navigate to Azure Active Directory > App registrations and click the required app. For information on how to create a new app, see Register an application.
- From the Essentials section, copy your Tenant ID (directory ID).
- Copy Client ID (application ID).
- Navigate Certificates and secrets > Client secrets.
- Click + New client secret. The Add a client secret panel opens.
- Enter Description.
- Click Add.
- Copy your Client secret (value).
Important: This secret value is never displayed again once you leave this page.
Configure scopes (required): Scopes are OAuth 2.0 permissions that the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central API defines to limit access to your account. (This setting is available only when you select the S2S web service). To select the scopes for this connection,
- Click the Configure scopes button.
- To access all of the scopes in the API, click the » button.

Check the scopes you want to add and click the > button. - Click Save to save your scopes and leave the editor.
C. Advanced Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central settings
Before continuing, you have the opportunity to provide additional configuration information, if needed, for the connection.
D. Save and authorize the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central connection
Click Save and authorize in integrator.io to commit your changes and proceed to log in with Microsoft. Enter the email address of your registered Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central account and click Next.
Enter Password: Enter the password of your registered Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central account and click sign in.
E. Test the connection
Once you have configured the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central connection, you have a few options for continuing (these settings are available only when you select the S2S web service):
- Save – click this button to test the connection, commit the new connection so that it will be available to all integrations for your account
- Save & close – click to test and save the connection and exit the Create connection panel
- Cancel – click to exit without saving any new changes
- Test connection – click this button to verify that your new connection is free of errors
When you test or save the connection, it is verified before continuing.
The new connection is now successfully added to your account. It will be applied to the current source or destination app if you created it within a flow. Otherwise, you may proceed to register the connection with an integration.
