If you are using integrator.io to process and transfer files, you can increase data security using PGP encryption. PGP requires the use of public and private keys, which are not generated in integrator.io. Create PGP keys to encrypt and decrypt files using a third-party tool before you configure PGP settings in integrator.io.
When you configure a connection to any supported file system in integrator.io, such as FTP, Amazon S3, or Google Drive, PGP encryption settings are available under the advanced options. Then when you set up an import or export using that connection, those settings are applied as well as the additional PGP settings you configure for the import or export.
Important: For PGP encryption to work, click Yes to Generate files from a record in your transfer. For data security purposes, integrator.io creates PGP encrypted files “on-the-fly”. As integrator.io processes the individual records, it will encrypt the results and create a file. Celigo does not take existing files and encrypt them. When sending complete existing files, you must encrypt them separately, and use integrator.io to transfer them to file systems within your environment.
Connection PGP Settings
To configure a connection to use PGP:
- Create or modify an existing file system connection.
- Expand the Advanced options.
- Select Enable PGP cryptographic.
- Set the following options:
- PGP public key – Enter the public key to use for encryption and verifying signatures.
- PGP private key – Enter the private key to use for decryption and signing files.
- Private key passphrase (required if you provided a private key) – Enter the passphrase for the private key.
- Compression algorithm – Select an algorithm to use to compress files during encryption and decompress files during decryption. If this field is empty, files are left uncompressed.
- ASCII armor – In an Export step, this setting indicates the incoming file format for parsing. In an Import step, it dictates the output format of the encrypted file. Select Yes for text (ASCII-armored) format, or No for binary format.
Export Decryption
You can configure export settings so that encrypted files transferred through an export are decrypted. In addition, you can specify the same decryption settings when you select the option to look up additional files.
To set PGP decryption options:
- Create an export or a lookup, and select the file system application.
- Select an existing connection that has been configured to use PGP. Then, click Next.
- Configure the standard export or lookup settings.
- Expand the Advanced section, and select Decrypt files.
- For Decryption algorithm, select PGP.
- Set any additional options necessary for the export or lookup.
- Then, click Save & close.
Import Encryption
The option to encrypt files prior to import is disabled by default. Once enabled, you are required to provide the symmetric key algorithm. You can also specify a hash algorithm to use if you want integrator.io to sign the files.
To set PGP encryption options when you configure a file import:
- Create an import and select the file system application.
- Under What would you like to do?, select Transfer files into destination application.
- Select an existing connection that has been configured to use PGP. Then, click Next.
- Configure the standard import settings.
- Expand the Advanced section, and select Encrypt files. Then, set the following options that appear:
- Encryption algorithm – Select PGP.
- Encryption symmetric key algorithm – Select the symmetric key algorithm integrator.io should use to encrypt the files.
- Signing hash algorithm – If you want integrator.io to sign the files after encrypting them, select the hashing algorithm to use. If you do not specify an algorithm, the files will not be signed.
- Set any additional options necessary for the import.
- Then, click Save & close.
