The Map Ship Methods setting supports one-to-one mapping between a Shopify ship method and a NetSuite ship method. For conditional mappings, such as assigning a NetSuite ship method based on whether an order comes from NetSuite POS or a standard Shopify checkout, add the required Handlebars expressions directly to the order flow's shipping-method lookup.
Use either Settings > Order > Shipping > Map Ship Methods or the flow-level shipping-method lookup to manage your mappings. If you use flow-level Handlebars expressions, leave Map Ship Methods unchanged because saving this setting can overwrite the custom expressions, even when the saved change is unrelated to the customized mapping.
Configure unmatched shipping methods
-
Fail if Unique Match Not Found
- This option is selected by default. When enabled, the flow fails if it cannot find an exact match for the NetSuite shipping method in the value received from Shopify.
- When you deselect the checkbox, new options are displayed that allow you to post the order to NetSuite even if an exact match is not found.
-
Default Lookup Value
- You can also provide a default value for the NetSuite "Ship Method" field here in case no match is found in the lookup table.
Note
The maximum number of mappings recommended under the Map Ship Methods setting is 1000 to ensure the app runs smoothly.
Manage advanced shipping logic in the flow mapping
The Map Ship Methods setting supports one-to-one mapping between a Shopify ship method and a NetSuite ship method. For conditional mappings, such as assigning a NetSuite ship method based on whether an order comes from NetSuite POS or a standard Shopify checkout, add the required Handlebars expressions directly to the order flow's shipping-method lookup.

Important
Maintain shipping-method mappings in the Map Ship Methods setting rather than editing the corresponding lookup directly in the order flow mapping. Changes made directly in the flow mapping do not automatically update this setting. If you later modify and save the Map Ship Methods setting, the integration app can regenerate the lookup and overwrite mappings added directly in the flow. Conversely, if you have already added custom handlebar expressions or conditional logic directly in the order flow's shipping-method lookup, do not save the Map Ship Methods setting, as doing so regenerates the lookup and overwrites those flow-level customizations.
Troubleshooting
Resolve empty or undefined shipping method errors
Error: Exported value is empty/undefined for the field: $.shipping_lines_1.title
Cause: This error occurs when custom Handlebars expressions in the order flow's shipping-method lookup are overwritten. Saving Map Ship Methods after adding flow-level shipping logic regenerates the lookup and removes the custom expressions. Because this happens only when Map Ship Methods is saved, the error may appear days or weeks after the custom logic was added.
Resolution: Re-add the required Handlebars expressions or conditional logic to the order flow's shipping-method lookup, then reprocess the failed orders. To prevent the expressions from being overwritten again, manage the shipping-method logic at the flow level and leave Map Ship Methods unchanged.
