The user would like to change the Variant ID for an item and update the inventory. To make these changes, the user updated the Product Variant ID and Product ID on an existing product. Then, the user ran "Shopify Product Id to NetSuite Item Mass Update" and "NetSuite Inventory to Shopify Inventory Add/Update" within integrator.io. The inventory number did not sync. Instead, the changes made to the Product ID and Product Variant ID were reverted back to the old ID.
Solution:
First, the Celigo Shopify Item ID Map List should be updated with the new variant ID and Product ID. To update the inventory count, there needs to be a change in the quantity available. So, an inventory adjustment needs to be created with a quantity of 1 for this item. Next, run the NetSuite Inventory to Shopify Inventory Add/Update. This will update the quantity in Shopify with the current quantity plus 1 for the inventory adjustment. Then, delete the inventory adjustment and run the NetSuite Inventory to Shopify Inventory Add/Update again. This corrects the quantity in Shopify.
There are 3 things that associate the NetSuite item to the Shopify item: the variant ID, product ID, and the SKU. Since the SKUs for the new item and old item are the same in Shopify, when you run the Shopify Product Id to NetSuite Item Mass Update, it copies the variant ID and product ID of the original item to the Shopify Item ID Map. You will need to make sure that the SKUs of the old and new items in Shopify is different. The purpose of the Shopify Product Id to NetSuite Item Mass Update is to update product IDs and variant IDs of matching SKUs from Shopify to NetSuite. In this case, it picked the original item since that was the first one created in Shopify with the same SKU (lower internal ID).
If you just want to change the Shopify item associated with the NetSuite item, no need to run Shopify Product Id to NetSuite Item Mass Update. You can just go directly to the Shopify Item ID Map List and update the product and variant IDs. Also, make sure the SKUs are different in Shopify. A second approach is to just make sure the SKUs in Shopify for the old and new items are different. Then, run the Shopify Product Id to NetSuite Item Mass Update to update the product and variant ID in NetSuite. This second approach will no longer require you to make changes to Shopify Item ID Map List.
